I interned at the Indianapolis Zoo January-April in 2014. My job as an intern was primarily writing content for the website and taking photos. After my internship concluded, the Zoo created a Seasonal Public Relations Specialist position for me to stay on through the summer. After I was hired on as a staff member, I took over Facebook and Twitter for the Zoo and assisted with Instagram as well. The website became my full responsibility. I added and updated content daily. I also assisted in preparations for Zoobiliation, one of the Indianapolis Zoo's largest events each year.

As I mentioned above, my primary job was creating website content and managing the Zoo's social media channels, which includes writing for the Zoo's blog. For the website, I kept all the event pages up to date and also wrote content for the "Breaking News" page, which included animal updates as well as updates on events. For social media, I used an excel spreadsheet to plan and execute posts. At the end of each month, I would go back and count up all the interactions each post recieved. Another job I was given was taking photographs for sponsors, for the website and for social media. My work can be found in the Photography tab. The PR team at the Zoo had a shared email mailbox which recieved questions from guests. I constructed emails consistent with Zoo messaging to reply to those with the help of my fellow PR team. Below is a representation of the work I completed at the Indianapolis Zoo.
